International models live life on the go. There is a frightening amount of information on the web involving scams that center around the modeling business. First time models are particularly vulnerable.
Your Agency Should Help You Relocate
Finding models temporary apartments for rent, if you’re going to be shooting in a location for more than a hotel stay would cover, should be up to your agency or your agent. You have other things to worry about that after all; like not eating. Of course having a home base that you can call your own is a good idea; but it should be a place that can either be left alone for long periods of time or sublet to a friend or relative.
Do Some Research On Your New Location
In addition to finding a place to stay in a foreign city, you might want to do a little research on their culture and language. Getting around town will be easier if you have some idea of what to expect and can speak even just a few necessary phrases.
In addition, someone new to the modeling business: should never go to a photo shoot without a friend or escort; snapshots will do, you do not need an entire portfolio; you should not have to pay for anything up front—that’s the agency’s job; and if someone approaches you right off the street, it’s probably a scam.
